Mountaingrass 2015 and ABOTMA Meeting at The GAP Saturday April 18 at 2pm, Dining Room, Mountain View Retreat, Harrietville.

Hello all,

Mountaingrass 2014 was a very successful and enjoyable event thanks to all of you who attended and helped us during the festival. We estimated that our ticket sales increased by around 20% and we made enough of a profit to get us started with booking our headline acts for this year. Our support from local business and residents in Harrietville has also been strengthened as we continue to work with them.

Planning for Mountaingrass 2015 is in full swing with our two headline US acts already booked. They are old time act The Orpheous Supertones and Laurie Lewis and the Right Hands.
Laurie hails from the West Coast of the US. She has a very expressive vocal style and has been voted Female Vocalist of the Year twice by the IBMA.

Performer applications for acts from Australia and New Zealand are now open and will close on May 30.

This year we are reducing the total number of acts performing in order to provide a bit more space in the program and allow folks to move more easily between venues. We will have the blackboard concert at the Mountain View Hall on Sunday afternoon and we invite everyone who wants to perform at MountainGrass to come along to this concert.

The management and staff at Feathertop Chalet are looking forward to hosting the event again this year and we are already discussing how to make the event as enjoyable as possible for the festival attendees. The café-style set up with chairs and table and wood fires under the covered area outside Reception will be back, along with the Bright Brewery beer and the delicious meals and takeaway snacks.

Staging Mountaingrass is a huge amount of work and we need lots of extra help this year during the lead up to MountainGrass. If you would like to have a more “behind the scenes” role at MountainGrass, have a bit of extra time over the year, or have expertise in a particular area of staging events, please get in touch with me.

Several committee members will be at the Great Alpine Pick in Harrietville this coming weekend, April 17-19. We will be having a short meeting regarding MountainGrass 2015 with ABOTMA members, and anyone else who is interested, in the Dining room of Mountain View Retreat at 2pm on Saturday April 18.
