Greetings from Mountaingrass!
Word has gotten to our ears that there are rumours flying around that there will be no Mountaingrass in 2017. Please be reassured, nothing could be further from the truth! We are working hard to bring you the best Mountaingrass ever.
Performer offers have been sent out to our Australia and New Zealand applicants and we will announce these as confirmations come in. We are thrilled to announce that outstanding bluegrass band Bluestone Junction has already confirmed and will be featuring at this year’s festival. We are also pleased that RhodeWorks from New Zealand will be guests this year. Many of you may have seen this dynamic and talented family band at last year’s festival, playing at the Thursday dinner at the Snowline, and appearing on stage with Pete Denahy. We’re thrilled they’ll be able to join us again this year. We will have many more announcements in the coming weeks.
Negotiations with possible headline acts from the US are in full swing at the moment and we hope to have something very exciting to tell you soon!
As you know, ABOTMA exists to promote bluegrass and old time music throughout Australasia, as well as bring you Mountaingrass every year. In our past surveys members have stated they would like to see ABOTMA expand activities throughout Australasia. Being an entirely volunteer, committee, and member run organisation, we can only do this with the continued support and involvement of people such as yourself who love the music. ABOTMA memberships will be available soon, and your $25 individual membership will get you a $35 discount on your Mountaingrass ticket. Who could say no to that?
