A big part of our fundraising every year is the Raffle, and we’re very lucky to have generous donors contributing prizes. This year our first prize is a custom made “Harrietville” model open back banjo being built at this very moment by Laurie Grundy.
Here’s the very start of the Harrietville Open Back Banjo …. These pics are of the pearl and abalone peg head inlays in rosewood and also the rosewood fret board with the shell inlays showing the frailing notch. I have now installed these items on the neck and installed the frets and also the ivoroid bindings at the side of the fret board and shaped the peghead. Tomorrow when I unwrap the tape hold the bindings (while the glue sets to the fret board and neck)
Other prizes in our raffle are a Presto instrument case, CD collection of all the Mountaingrass artists, custom banjo picks, and tickets to next year’s Festival.
